Take me into your loving arms

Happy Wednesday!  I hope you had a good weekend.  I’m back today with more Valentine’s Day decor and fashion.  To highlight some of the hunt gifts on the Love Me…Love Me Not hunt until 2/28/17, I created a sweet and soft pretty in pink bedroom.  One of my favorite gifts on the hunt is Dreamscapes Art Gallery Love Ladder.  The ladder corresponds perfectly with Dreamscapes new release Jessir Chair in stripes with english rose printed blanket and matching heart ottoman.  Another great companion from Dreamscapes is the Love Frames, a gift on the Stupid Cupid Hunt (2/3-2/28).  To me Valentine’s Day always means roses and StoraxTree has a lovely Vintage Plant Stand Rose Bush Pink on the Love Me…Love Me Not hunt.   Another nice gift is Love You Suitcase, a fun pink teddy bear suitcase from Sickly Sweet.  To complete the styling of the feminine boudoir, I used Floorplan Swan Lake Score Print above the bed and Bow Chair at the bureau (both part of January 2017 Collabor88).  What Next Amelie Blanket Box and Picture Shelves (both past FLF) round out the floral pastel palette.  Lastly, I added Adorably Strange Wares Roseta Wreath to the mirrors behind the table lamp available for 50% off at Perfect Ten (till 2/15).As for some fashion, today I have an adorable lingerie set from Carrie’s Lingerie.  The Love Me pink with heart balconette-style bra with matching thong is a free gift on the Love Me…Love Me Not hunt.  The Love Me set is designed for classic avi’s (non-mesh) with an omega applier, I haven’t succumbed the temptation of mesh bodies yet.  If you ever want to know my skin or hair, just im me, I’m happy to share (I’m really bad at listing everything I use for fashion post).  In the above picture I’m wearing Lamb Dissolved Girl hair (previous group gift, still available for free). Another pretty in pink lingerie set is Blacklace Lady Almathea, the new group gift ($99L group fee).  Lady Almathea is a pink rose appliqué corset with panties that fits mesh and system avi’s. Goodnight Sweetheart!

Today, I have more exclusive 100% donation items from the SL Home & Garden Expo 2016 and we continue our tour of the Cloverleaf bungalow by Galland Homes.  The modern girly bedroom just might be my favorite out of all of them because it’s style after my real life space.  Two primary colors of white and rose quartz dominate the room with three separate areas; a mini office complete with desk, a dressing area and sleeping quarters.  The oversized glamorous white leather tufted bed beckons you to dream about shoes!  The Boudoir Lit in Vanilla by Kaya’s Ray of Sunshine is a 100% donation item at the Expo running from February 14 to March 6, 2016.  Suspended above the bed is Kaya’s Candle and Caged Chandelier.  Another exclusive donation creation is the Vintage Valentine Lace Top Wallpaper pack in seven styles from Irrie’s Dollhouse (both Hope 6).

One underlining theme in the bedroom is birdcages, at first when I saw the spread I was going to call the post Birdcage Boudoir :-)!  If this was a contest, The Mustard Seed (Hope 6) would win for best use of floral display and variety.  From wall mounted cages overflowing with tulips and tied bows, to standing floor units with pretty pinky bird {pic below}, to crystal chandelier tabletop all in pink, Spring has arrived.  The Demi Table and Birdcage Floor Planter are the two 100% donation items, and there is a gacha machine filled with other colored floor stand & tabletop crystal chandelier with 50% of the proceeds donated to Relay of Life of Second Life.

Displayed on The Mustard Seed Demi Tables used as bedside tables are more exclusive donation creations along with Fly with Me figurines by Chic Buildings (Hope 6).  Hope Blocks from Magnum Opus (Hope 1) are on the Expo Hunt for $10L.  Also displayed is Shabby Tabby (Hope 8) bucket of bright roses, paper flowers wall art and some framed brand logos I used in the bedroom.  What Next Amelia Bookcase and Desk flank the fireplace.

As we move from the sleeping quarters to the office, La Galleria gorgeous White Column Fireplace sets the tone and creates warmth in the bedroom.  Displayed on the mantel is Daydreamers Love Letters sign re-textured (Hope 7) and The Mustard Seed Pink Camellia Vase {part of the Bird Cage Floor Planter set}.  Hanging above the fireplace is Spargel & Shines Homes Bocas Belle Mirror (Hope 1).

The office area is decked out with sweet treats Frosty Chockberry Cake & Freesia Dessert Plate from BeYou World and Irrie’s Dollhouse Home Picture Frame filled with more expo exhibitor logos used in the bedroom and landscape (all items listed are 100% donation and located on Hope 6).

Finally, we move into my favorite part of the room, the dressing area complete with a well-organized Glam Closet from Bazar (100% donation item-Hope 8).  The closet is available in white or wood and male/female versions.  It can also be used as individual pieces or a unit to fit your needs.  On top of the closet unit I placed What Next storage boxes (metallic & colors version) previously released at January round of Collabor88, now available at the main What Next store.  Lastly, probably my fave item so far is Bazar round dusty rose tufted Glam Ottoman.  Guarding the dressing area is Kaya’s Ray of Sunshine golden birdcage with hydrangea and blue Parakeet (loved her so much I named her Tweety bird).  Hope you enjoyed the modern girly bedroom and take some time to check out all the exhibitors at the Expo!

A step back into time…

Just a few days till Halloween and I wanted to share with you one build I’ve been preoccupied with since spring.  I hoped to create the rolling hills of a French countryside wine region similar to Provence using Apple Fall’s rural farmhouse (rare) from the The Arcade March 2015 round.  Nestled in the hillside, the stucco two-story building with creeping ivy, clay tile roof, worn exterior shutters and double barn door has a vintage aged working farm atmosphere. Step outside to be greeted by vineyards, zig-zag rose-bush lined cobblestone path and a secret retreat garden shed. The converted garage barrel room has some of the best views of the lake and hillside.  Come join me on my journey, a step back into time.

The interior of the farmhouse is vintage shabby chic with a distinctive feminine feel with rose print chairs and rugs in the living room.  The first floor has an open layout concept with the dining area near the stairwell and the kitchen on the back wall, with views of the sunflower field out the kitchen window. Enticing baskets of fruit and baked goods are arranged on the pantry unit just in reach from the dining table.  The opening under the stairwell has bushels of fresh picked farm apples.  Although small, the kitchen has everything one needs with a vintage stove, butcher block counter tops, farmhouse sink and country stove.

As we move upstairs we are awash in royal blue and cream.  Two doll houses grace the window facing the rolling hillside, a cozy chair placed next to the dresser with an antique French perfume print which hangs above.  The inviting bed beckons us with a breakfast tray already made, the dressing area has a corresponding armoire with hat boxes placed on top and a rose detailed ladder for easy access.  Hope you enjoy the trip back in time!

Passport to Style: Key West

Happy Sunday!  According to the calendar, summer doesn’t end until September 23rd, so there’s plenty of time to enjoy!  Grab your overnight bag, sunscreen and passport, we’re headed to Key West, Florida (USA).  Key West is the southernmost city in the Continental United States, located 129 miles southwest of Miami, Florida, and 106 miles north-northeast of Havana, Cuba.  Cuba, at its closest point, is 94 miles south.  Key West is a small seaport city, total area 7.4 square miles and on the dividing line between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico.  It was also a hideaway for authors Ernest Hemingway and Tennessee Williams.  Key West is divided into four distinct areas: Old Town, Casa Marina, Mid-Town and New Town.  With a tropical climate, similar to the Caribbean islands, the bright-colored historic homes (1886-1912) dotting Old Town called conch are wood-framed one or two-story structures built on foundation piers above the ground, with metal roofs, horizontal wood siding, and covered porches, attributed to immigrants from the Bahamas.

Some Key West design elements are bright colors, clean lines and minimal clutter with the focus on bringing the outdoors in as much as possible through the inclusion of large windows with minimal coverage and vibrant color selections that mimic the sand, sun and sea.  It’s typical to see white furnishings with pops of bright-colored pillows or throws, louver shutters, natural fabrics, coastal art and accessories such as seashells, sailboats or sailfish in this laid-back tropical seaside oasis.

Making an entrance!

They say you only have one chance to make a first impression.  The same applies to your home as it’s a reflection of your personality and style.  A great foyer serves a dual purpose, first function and then an inviting space to greet your guest.  I styled a ‘under the sea’ themed summer beach house highlighting a few key elements to make a greeting entry including: table/cabinet, mirror, chair, empty baskets for keys, newspaper or mail, baskets of pillows or blankets for the porch, potted plants, lighting, and some fun decorative accessories.  One could also add a collection of family photos or coat rack/umbrella stand.  Don’t over look the importance of the first impression of your home.
