The Real Me…

GloriaSilverstone Resident, headshot2 copy

Warning this is a totally different kind of post today.  This post is inspired by two of my friends and fellow models/bloggers recent articles.  I’ve been thinking more and more about masks and unveiling one’s self to the world.  We all have our “face” that we let co-workers, strangers, and SL friends see and then there is the real you, the “authentic you” that your loves one know and appreciate.  Personally, sometimes I find it harder and harder to reveal one’s self to this world, maybe it’s fear of rejection or worst disapproval. Maybe it’s because I’ve also been so fascinated with the idea of a “face in a crowd.”  But there comes a time in your life that you desire to be “you”….. to be known for your whole essence not just facts or baseless opinions of others.  So, I guess I’m opening the door a bit into me and what makes Gloria counterpart tick.  I mentioned that this post was inspired by my friends Averil and Cao‘s recent blogs (please read them, they have very different perspectives on SL and offer great insight).  Recently, Averil wrote a blog based on a personality test she took and urged others to take it.  When I entered college we all had to take personality test to determine our career path.  Well, as a fresh-faced freshman with stars in her eyes, I wanted to pursue art, either art history or graphic design.  I was shy, quiet, scared to explore others options, and I’ve also had the greatness passion for art.  So no surprise when the personality results were in, I was an INFP (Introversion, Intuition, Feeling & Perceiving, career paths: writers, counselors, social worker or psychologist).  After college my life took a left turn and everything changed, and with change comes different outlooks.  I have changed since college, since 5 years ago, since last fall.  I have grown and relaxed, and maybe accepted myself.  The brilliant and wonderful Cao wrote about accepting herself in a recent article.  She “came to terms with herself” and embraced her “imperfections,” and I allowed my inner voice to be heard.  (Just a side thought, I wonder if guys have to deal with ‘accepting’ themself like women do).  Anyway, the real me is slowly emerging in my counterpart Gloria, both love art, both are sassy independent smart women, both are loyal and funny, I’m a brunette, golden olive complexion with a love for old cars and power tools. 🙂 I wanted to style an outfit that I would wear in RL, so here’s by tribute to Fall 2013.  Suede khaki pants (Overhigh), camel overcoat ([PO], available at The Boutique), silk studded nude blouse (Ricielli), sassy open toe booties (BSD), chocolate suede hobo handbag (Azoury, available at L’accessoires) and autumnal jewelry set (Izzie’s). Oh yeah, in case you were wondering, I retook the personality test and as of today, I’m an ENFJ (Extraversion, Intuition, Feeling & Judging, career paths: event coordinators, politicians, or religious work).

Take the test and be kind to yourself.

White Hot!

White Hot, TDR July 2013

Summer is heating up and the perfect outfit to melt away the summer sizzle is an all white ensemble. I adore all things Ricielli and had to have the spiked white blazer with bronze studs available at The Dressing Room for 70L.  I paired the blazer (& white tee option), with Color.Me.H.O.F. white leather skirt from C88.  For accessories, I used the A&Ana F.J. My Fluo Style jewelry set (necklace, earrings & cuffs) from TDR and Holly black patent studded knuckles clutch from The Shoe Fair (available until July 31, 2013).  The Dressing Room changes its inventory on Thursday, so hurry up and get your sizzle on!  Taxi please…

I go out walking after midnight….

TDR- Black & Blue

New round of The Dressing Room opened last Friday with a boatload of wonderful fashion items.  Today, I will be focusing on jewelry from LaGyo and Kunglers.  I paired LaGyo Asuncion jewelry set and Kunglers necklace in Copper with Tee*fy Bella Ruffles Cami in Navy and H.O.F. Leather mini in black/blue, both from Collarbor88.  LaGyo’s interlocking “X” pendant and earrings in gold is perfect for causal to semi-formal outfits, and a good transition piece for the Fall.  The Kunglers necklace with its rich Amethyst stone and copper hue chain with add pop to any outfit.  All items at TDR are between 40-70L from top SL designers, swapping out styles every two weeks.

This month’s offering at C88 are all fabulous, just buy everything.  No, kidding.  But don’t pass up Tee*fy Bella Ruffles Silk Cami in so many colors you might be tempted to purchase all of the them (like I did).  And, I love, love, love House of Fox mini leather skirt, it’s one item that I owe in RL and I’m so glad little Glory has it now too.  I can’t wait to wear H.O.F. mini with leggings or tights in the chilly SL Fall days ahead.  C88 items are on sale until August 7, 2013, hurry up already…

Gatsby Inspired look @ The Dressing Room

June 2013- The Dressing Room display

I’m a huge fan of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby and the original version of the motion picture, (the good one with dashing Robert Redford :-)).  When I walked into the June edition The Dressing Room, I was inspired by Drift Zoe Maxi dress in Bloom and LaGyo Poppy headpiece in pink.  To complete the look, I purchased Just Design Deviant Shoes in Shock pink and paired it with some Arcade finds; Gizza Straw Summer Bag and Pink Fuel Harley 04 skin (a huge THANK YOU goes out to ★MISS V♛ USA ★ Averil who shared some of her goodies with me (and started my Arcade addiction :-)).  Remember ladies, The Dressing Room is a discount shopping event with creations from top SL designers reduced to 40-70L.  I believe a new rounds starts Friday, June 21, so hop over and grab up these deals before they are gone.

The Dressing Room collection is coming to a close,  but there is still just a moment to hop over and grab some items.  TDR is a discount store that features top designers in SL at rock bottom prices of 40 to 70L each, so it’s well worth the time to check it out.  Just want to spotlight one of my new favorite designer items featured at TDR.  Ricielli is an ultra cool, urban chic chick who rocks a leather studded skirt and silk rompers…. I want to be her in RL, but I don’t have legs, or fierceness, to pull it off.  So, Gloria nicely enough agreed to play all the parts :-).  Anyway, I found out about Ricielli from Cao’s blog ( a treat and personal fav) and headed over there, only to my amazement to find a hunt!  Not only was Fhara Ricielli Marchiori (creator) nice enough to offer items for the Valentine hunt, she left out past hunt items as well, all for 15L each.  Well, I purchased most and have been dying to write a blog post about this store ever since.  This past weekend (May 31-June 2) all the spring mesh studded items were on sale for 50% off.  Hopefully, I will have time to style a few that I purchased so you can see the quality and diversity of looks. (Also, there was a past Mother’s day hunt with goodies hidden around the store).

Anyway, I digress…today I found three Ricielli items at The Dressing Room for 60-65L each.  The midnight (blue/teal) lace studded skirt & corset has a baroque feel, which was a huge trend last fall.  I LoOoveD the colors and knew I purchased a suede biker jacket and it would pair nicely with the urban chic look.  I heard that Izzie’s made good skin and this was a perfect opportunity to try it out by getting Irene in Brown.  To finished the bad girl style, I got Pure Poison Teal & Gold Wilda necklace from The Box (monthly discount event).  Any who, there is still some day light left to head over and see what styles you can create on a budget.
