East Meets West Open House

East vs. West Open House Sign FramedI am so excited to share with you Interior & Spaces first open house for 2015!  Interior & Spaces Home Design is a residential and commercial full service design firm (interior & exterior) established in 2014 by myself and design partner in crime Niki Silverweb.  This year Niki’s workload increased and I took over the reigns as CEO and head designer.  With strategic marketing and phenomenal exposure due to my Avi Choice nomination, my client list and projects exploded.  It’s rare now that Niki & I have the opportunity to work on a sim build together.  We would be honored to invite you to our East Meets West Open House from September 1st-4th!

Passport to Style: Key West

Perfect Ten, Tylar's Treasure Key West Living Room Full

Happy Sunday!  According to the calendar, summer doesn’t end until September 23rd, so there’s plenty of time to enjoy!  Grab your overnight bag, sunscreen and passport, we’re headed to Key West, Florida (USA).  Key West is the southernmost city in the Continental United States, located 129 miles southwest of Miami, Florida, and 106 miles north-northeast of Havana, Cuba.  Cuba, at its closest point, is 94 miles south.  Key West is a small seaport city, total area 7.4 square miles and on the dividing line between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico.  It was also a hideaway for authors Ernest Hemingway and Tennessee Williams.  Key West is divided into four distinct areas: Old Town, Casa Marina, Mid-Town and New Town.  With a tropical climate, similar to the Caribbean islands, the bright-colored historic homes (1886-1912) dotting Old Town called conch are wood-framed one or two-story structures built on foundation piers above the ground, with metal roofs, horizontal wood siding, and covered porches, attributed to immigrants from the Bahamas.

Perfect Ten, Tylar's Treasure Key West Living Room Mid Bright

Some Key West design elements are bright colors, clean lines and minimal clutter with the focus on bringing the outdoors in as much as possible through the inclusion of large windows with minimal coverage and vibrant color selections that mimic the sand, sun and sea.  It’s typical to see white furnishings with pops of bright-colored pillows or throws, louver shutters, natural fabrics, coastal art and accessories such as seashells, sailboats or sailfish in this laid-back tropical seaside oasis.

Perfect Ten, Tylar's Treasure Key West Living Room Close

Tylar’s Treasures newest release Key West Collection at Perfect Ten is a tropical inspired living room collection, available for 50% off from September 1-15 (it’s out early).  The collection includes aqua blue, lime green and crisp white animated rowboat chair and love seat, table lamps with sailboat decal, painted white coffee table and end table, paisley vase with lime twigs, turquoise bowl with floral, sailboat wall art and ceiling fan.  To complete the styling, I incorporated nautical oars, jars filled with sand and shells, seashell art, potted palms, turquoise candle tray, shell rug, bench with aqua toss pillows, captain lanterns and Sway’s mason jar beach vignette with palm tree and animated bird & fish (@Fantasy Gacha Carnival 8/12-9/12).   Tylar’s motto for laid back lifestyle printed on the pillows is “Sandy Toes & Salty Kisses,” so when transforming your home with the Florida Keys look use a vibrant color palette and remember “All you need is LOVE and the BEACH!”

Making an entrance!

Entry Hall

They say you only have one chance to make a first impression.  The same applies to your home as it’s a reflection of your personality and style.  A great foyer serves a dual purpose, first function and then an inviting space to greet your guest.  I styled a ‘under the sea’ themed summer beach house highlighting a few key elements to make a greeting entry including: table/cabinet, mirror, chair, empty baskets for keys, newspaper or mail, baskets of pillows or blankets for the porch, potted plants, lighting, and some fun decorative accessories.  One could also add a collection of family photos or coat rack/umbrella stand.  Don’t over look the importance of the first impression of your home.

Daydream Believer…

Angel Summer Tent- The Lexi project

Happy August!  I can’t believe it August, can you?  Not sure where the time went, but I’m in denial.  On the up side, just 4 months till Christmas and soon I can start styling interiors and exteriors for my favorite season, Fall.  But before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s squeeze out every last-minute of summer.  When I think of this time of the year, I’m transported back to my childhood with tons of sleepover parties under the stars, party games and our best-loved (often well-worn out) teddy bears and dollies along for the fun.  Fast forward a few years, the kids are all grown-up and the stuffies are left to play and cause mischief.  Using Serenity Style Angel Summer Tent from The Lexi Project, I created a whimsical corner hideaway.  The Lexi Project is going strong and each day the grand donation tally is updated on the The Lexi Project blog.  We still have not reached the goal of $12k, but I have faith we will.  You have eight more shopping days (August 9, 2015) to check out over 350+ designers and creators exclusive items with 100% of all proceeds donated to The Lexi Fund.  So, get shopping and know that your purchase will help one of our own Second Life residents.

The whole space was created with Serenity Style products.  I would particularly like to highlight The Country Drawer set available today ONLY (Saturday, August 1, 2015) for The Neighbourhood and The Country Chest & Cutie Monster from Cosmopolitan Bi-Weekly Event ending tomorrow Sunday, August 2, 2015.  I also want to feature the Gypsy Soul Dreamcatcher over the tent bed, part of  the My Gypsy Soul Caravan on sale at Tres Chic until August 5th and the Wooden Swing Bench & Tic-Toc Wall Art available at The Fantasy Collective through August 15. Have fun with these cool unique design offers.  Happy weekend & happy shopping!

Final Hours…

The Mix & Wayward Carnival July 2015

Is it just me or are there a ton more monthly events that feature home decor this year?  It seems like I spend most of my time looking at Seraphim blog, then when I get in-world I’m distracted with outstanding projects and miss the event entirely.  So I’m playing a little catch-up.

Today’s styling features Sway’s items for the Mix event (ending July 31) and Wayward Carnival (ending today, July 30).  The Mix event is a new monthly HUD- base shopping experience broken into three categories; New, Sale or Exclusive.  You do not need the HUD to shop, it only allows you to view in-world the participating stores and supplies a direct TP.  Sway’s is offering the limited (only sold for the Mix) Filis Collection in Black & White.   The set includes two bean-bag sling chairs (one black & one white), black & white end tables, paper ball lamps, and decorative accessories.   The B&W Filis is an adaptation of the spring release of the same set.  Take a peek of the offerings on Seraphim, lots of great deals you don’t want to miss!

The folks behind the uber popular Wayward Hunt (in April) have created the Wayward Carnival event, with fun summer items, to whimsical circus inspired products, be sure to check it out before it closed tonight.  Sway’s created Ines Canopy Sofa, a wicker lounge with five texture options for the mattress, pillows and canopy.  This is a must for relaxing sun-filled summer days!  Serenity Style is also participating in the event with a cute amusement park influenced Candy Carnival cart, heart cookies and muffins ferris wheel.  Yummy!

Finally, I mentioned in my last post credits that Fetch is closing their doors on July 31 and having a 50% off sale.  I wanted to include a few products in my styling today, pop over and grab the deals before there gone!
