Next in the series of homes I previously designed in 2016 but never had time to share with you is Niki’s Art Studio. As you know, Niki is my former design/business partner and sim owner. She is an artist (painter & photographer) in her first life and has always wanted her own studio in Second Life. I found this awesome shed by Hideki and Niki designed an eclectic industrial warehouse space with a lounge area displaying photography and sketches in the front room.
And in the back is Niki’s disheveled workspace with multiple ‘works in progress,’ spilt paint cans, neon signs, ladders and great natural light. Niki’s studio has a funky creative vibe perfect for the artist-in-residence. Once again, big shout out thank you goes to Kirra Frantic who took time to capture our designs. Hello Again!
Greeting readers and friends! It’s been far too long since I’ve blogged, in fact it’s been 9 months. No, I don’t have a new bundle of joy to share with you. So where have you been, you ask? Well, back in April my Mom had a stroke and it devastated me to my core. She is paralyzed on her left side, bedridden and recently suffered violent seizures. I quit my job, put grad school on hold and assumed the role as her full-time caregiver. As soon as it happened, I wrote a letter to my clients, sponsors and friends, as well as posted it on my Facebook page. At the time I wasn’t sure how long our journey would be or if I would ever return to Second Life and blogging. Well, I have yet to step my toe back into SL but I did want to share with you some pictures my dear friend Kirra Frantic took (back in April 2016) of my homes.First, in the trio series is my version of a guy’s lakeside hangout chill zone. A few years back (Fall 2014) my dearest friend & former design partner, Niki and I joined forces to host our first ever open house, His & Her. My style has always been sweet and girly whereas Niki’s is more masculine and industrial. Ever since that initial venture I’ve try to design one male focused space a year. The man cave cabin is a sports lover dream with a game area, baseball memorabilia, vintage vinyl and a cool loft bedroom. Since I don’t currently have the build up, please feel free to email me if you want to know where I purchased an item. Stay tuned for an art studio. Happy decorating!
Victorian Dream
Calling all Steampunk enthusiasts, I have a new hunt just for you! Steam X: Dream is a Victorian Steampunk themed hunt with 98 stops running from March 1-31, 2015 presented by Historical Hunt Ltd. Park Place Home Design (stop #13) is offering an elegant burgundy and gold Victorian armchair, mahogany side table and Frank Lloyd Wright inspired stain glass table lamp as the main gift, perfect for a reading nook. As a bonus for completing the Steam X hunt, DeAnn Dufaux, designer and owner of Park Place, has also created a modern Steampunk industrial gear wall unit great for a guys room or loft area. Both of these free home decor items will make a statement in your home. Good luck and happy hunting!
The end of smoky days…
I’ve always loved the feel of supple leather, the grain glides gently over my fingertips revealing its’ story. I adore large plush, tufted comfy brown leather club chairs. They envelope you with a warm hug and instantly you are transported to smoke-filled rooms of swanky private men-only social clubs in the dawn of the new era, where exclusive membership was handed down through generations and tycoons of industry were making deals over Brandy and billiards. The bartender had the most coveted position, always in need and always an earshot away from breaking news. Only rarely today will you find exclusive clubs of yesteryear; business is conducted differently, social drinking and moderate gambling is accepted. Nowadays the distinctive club room style has merged into everything from steak houses, to office furnishings, to homes. For a true gentlemans club experience you need a stately bar and Aphrodite Shop/Heart Homes has just released the perfect one, Paddy’s Irish Pub available exclusively at Room69 Event until March 20, 2015. Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day and the tip-off to March Madness! Paddy’s Irish Pub has 20 animations, 18 props and texture changer for wood, metals, & fabric with optional shamrock decor. Heart Homes Paddy’s Pub is 23 prims, stools 1 prim each, and ideal for any occasion.
A huge trend in interior design is home bars, or bar alternatives. Totally understandable with upcoming spring sporting events, summer BBQ parties, home brewers and man caves. So, I challenge myself to design an interior space in the masculine private social society style highlighting Heart Homes Paddy’s Irish Pub. I used Scarlet Creative Work Live Loft, an urban industrial warehouse space as my backdrop, I loved the juxtaposition of concrete, brick and metal with the lush leather of Zerkalo The Infamous Set (free gift @ Shiny Shabby Event) and the rich wooden bar. I created three separate areas, one to play chess, another to enjoy terrace views, and finally the last one tucked in the back corner for private chats, or a game of dominos. So, if you are hosting a St. Patrick’s Day party, need a place to chill for the big game, or just love the look as much as I do, pop over to Room69 Event and pick up Heart Homes Paddy’s Irish Pub!
