Vintage Romance!

Happy Valentine’s Day!  Hope you are having a wonderful weekend.

Today is the LAST DAY for the House Hunt, so run over tonight and grab the great gifts ($20L each).  I’m sorry I didn’t blog them sooner, but I’ve been ill lately and yesterday I injured my neck/back causing me terrible pain while sitting at the computer.  Thankfully, I styled the vintage bedroom earlier in the week and my business partner, Niki Silverweb was able to take the pictures.  So without further ado, I present a vintage Valentine inspired bedroom using the House Hunt gifts and some lovely finds.  This bedroom doesn’t have to be just for Valentine’s Day, it can easily be used at any time.  The Vintage Romance boudoir has a distinctly feminine feel in soft pinks, dusty blue and overall rose pattern details.  Hope you enjoy!

A Fall Cabin in the Woods

When I saw Trompe Loeil’s Rivershire Waterwheel House offered at Collabor88 July (Safari Chic) round, I was immediately inspired to create a Oktoberfest theme build.  Unfortunately, I designed about 90% of the structure when our sim was attacked by spammers, then two weeks later, our landlord went crazy and I lost everything.  Well I take that back, he threw everything back at me in clumps in my lost and found folder and it’s taken me sometime to regroup and re-stage the house.  I’m happy to now present our formerly known as Oktoberfest house, now dubbed fall-fest Cabin in the Woods.

The Rivershire Waterwheel House truly embodies melding nature into the home.  The cobblestone cottage with working waterwheel is built into a mountain rock.  The inside of the 2 story structure is supported by a large tree trunk with climbing ivy creeping onto the exposed stone walls.  Our cozy two room abode features large planked beamed and vaulted ceilings, arched doorways, intricate parquet wood flooring, and a dominate stain-glass circular window with bench.  The first floor has been styled in four separate areas; living room with plush leather sofa and chair overlooking the lake view, entertainment area with an apple delight sweet treat dessert bar leading into the dining spot with beautiful elegant autumn table setting and yummy candy apple center piece, and finally near the tree trunk stairwell the kitchenette houses a wine bar and pantry.  The overall vibe of the downstairs is rustic charm with notes of steampunk and autumn bliss.  The upstairs loft area has been transformed into a fairytale bedroom with two antique twin brass beds with patchwork duvet, soft inviting armchairs, and favorite plush friends (Snow Angel & Mr. Wiz, when our plushy friends are not causing trouble at the cabin, they hang out at Sway’s).  Hope you enjoy the spotlight of our autumn cabin in the woods and it will inspire you to decorate with nature in mind.  Have fun this holiday season, rethink the expected, and remember always Let’s Get Decorating!

Open House: Ravenshire Halloween Village

The witches have gathered, the ghosts are flying, and the candy bowls have been filled, the Ravenshire Halloween Village is open for trick or treat.  Stop by and enjoy six decorated rooms in different autumnal styles from rustic, to elegant, to country; starting tomorrow October 10 through Monday, October 13, 2014.  I kept everything charming and inviting, nothing too scary, great for families and friends.  Be inspired by some of my favorite designers; for highlights of each room visit this weeks’ past posts.

Sway’s Pumpkins

As you walk up the grassy path, Thaino Designs Dont Look Up! ghosts are making their way through the woods.  Bright and cheery Sway’s Boo Pumpkins line the main courtyard area with Roawenwood fountain, Thaino flower cauldron, Aphrodite Shop squirrels (Totally Nutz for you! & My babies nest @ The Seasons Story), and Park Place friendly flying Casper Ghostie Set (@ Mieville Halloween Village).  Near the courtyard is Sway’s Wishing Well (@ Mystic Realms Fair) and Finishing Touches Pumpkin Picker’s Wheelbarrow (subscriber gift).

Leading to the last house are two costumed skeletons and The Mustard Seed Fall Decor (60L special this weekend).  The very last house in the village is dedicated to the upcoming spooky Halloween season with a seance theme room from Finishing Touches Twilight collection complete with charred wood fireplace, sheet draped table and chair, and Victorian royal purple living room decor (Spellbound collection, past Twisted gift) transformed into a waiting area. Rustic Autumn

Sneak peek #3 of the Roawenwood Ravenshire Halloween Village (grande shoppes) this time reflects rustic autumn elegance displayed in several Finishing Touches collections in the bedroom, the living room, and the library.  Once again each shop window is adorned with beautiful harvest wreaths from Finishing Touches, and fanciful holiday decor from Park Place and Thaino Designs.  Enter into the grande shop from the Halloween Village courtyard. The center space contains the comfortable inviting Buckskin Living Room with suede sofas, armchairs and wood detailing.  Included in the set is a beautiful rug, potted plants, clock, table and lamps.  Simple elegant design requires easy accessories with Sway’s Fall Jar with Acorns and Candle.  To the right of the connecting rooms is the wood-paneled Executive Privilege library in warm rich brown tones. The set contains a burgundy rug, working library cabinets and shelves, an hourglass table, desk & chair, (and a lounge area).  On the opposite end of the three room cottage is the gorgeous Autumn Embrace bedroom, complete with ivy canopy bed (6 color variations), and twig & wood table/ chair accents.  In every window there is a special holiday decoration; among them is the unique and fascinating Park Place Miniature Haunted House with flying ghosts (available at Mieville Halloween Village). Ravenshire Halloween Village Sneak Peek

As promised, this week I will present you with several more sneak peeks of my upcoming Halloween Village open house where each room is decorated in a different autumnal style with corresponding window displays.  Today, I am featuring Park Place Autumn Shadows Dining Room collection (previously released at HGE and now available at the main store), Finishing Touches Pumpkin Candles and Autumn Wreath, Thaino Designs spooky sweet Halloween outdoor decor, and Aphrodite Shop Seven Sins wine (@ the Cosmo Sales Room event). Notable in the dining room is the Frank Lloyd Wright inspired stained glass inlay china cabinet, buffet table, and matching chandeliers.  The warmth of the crackling fire reflects the rich tones of the elegant mahogany round dining table.  Also included in the collection are charming painted pumpkin arrangements, greeting guests in the windows.  I completed the room with Finishing Touches new autumn release metal pumpkin candles, available in 6 versions.  All shoppe windows are embellished with different decorative Halloween items from pumpkins to haunted houses, and each window sports a unique Finishing Touches wreath.  The outside walkway is guarded by adorable Thaino Designs Witches in Training and Flower Cauldron.  Attached to this Roawenwood Ravenshire Village (single shoppe) is a little porch which I made into a farm to table store for the Halloween Village, with overflowing baskets of apples, squash, and zucchini.  Pumpkins, hay bales, a porch swing and bobbing for apples finish the scene.  Hope this inspires you to create a warm and inviting space for the upcoming holiday season.  Let’s Get Decorating!
