Park Place’s generous offers

The Lexi Project Donation- Haven Chair & Table Clock

Hello again!  I know, I’ve been missing in action for a few weeks.  I’ve been working feverishly on a client project and honestly, I’ve hit more roadblocks that any Daytona 500 speed racer.  Time to take a break and share with you Park Place Home Decor’s generous offering for The Lexi Project, a fundraising event for Lexi Zelin, owner of AngelRed Couture.  My favorite part of Second Life are the numerous charity events that help real life causes; from the recently wrapped up Hair Fair that benefited Wigs for Kids, to Relay for Life SL that aids American Cancer Society, to tons more, and I’m always willing to land a hand.

Lexi Zelin, owner and creator of AngelRED Couture, has recently been diagnosed with Stage 3 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Mounting medical bills and expenses are the last thing the 28-year-old mother needs to stress over.  Over 350+ generous designers and creators have come together at The Lexi Project, with 100% of all proceeds going straight to Lexi running from July 26th to August 9th.  There are also donation kiosks at the event location and for those of you who would like to donate directly, Lexi set-up a GoFundMe page.   Let’s come together and meet or beat Lexi goal of $12k, we are half way there.  The Lexi Project blog tells more about her story, has a complete designer list and gives a daily update on the funds raised.

DeAnn Dufaux of Park Place contributed the Haven Accent comfy barrel chair in 3 different colors (sunshine red {orange}, purple passion {eggplant} and coffee & cream {taupe}), and 3 version of a table clock (white marble, walnut & gold and black marble).  With just one month of summer left, it’s time to start thinking of autumn and slowly transitioning your interior.  Deep sumptuous plum is a major trend in home decor for fall especially when paired with brass and gold accents.  Infusing color and rich textures like jade green, grey and umber coupled with current styles like jute enhance the autumnal feeling and makes your home on trend!  Hop over and spend some Linden knowing your purchase will help Lexi.

Teahouse of the August Moon

Asian Tea House Full

A new round of The Challenge has started for June with the theme Asian.  There are seven designers participating in the monthly themed event offering everything from a tea house, to sushi, to Asian cabinets.  The Challenge is a bit different than other monthly home & garden shopping events where themed products are available for sale at one location.  With this event you can sneak peek the items on The Challenge site and then if interested in purchasing the creation, you teleport to the different stores.

Asian Tea House doorway

I personally love incorporating Far East pieces in home decor.  My childhood home was mainly furnished with Oriental antiques from my families travels.  The refinement of clean lines, balanced simplicity, natural materials, and hand painted lacquer furniture are elements of Asian style.  When I saw the June designs for The Challenge, I couldn’t wait to create a Japanese tea house in Second Life.  Traditionally, the tea house (as known as chashitsu) is free standing structure designed exclusivly for tea ceremonies.  Typical features of chashitsu are shoji windows and sliding doors made of wooden lattice covered in translucent paper.  I’m very fortunate that I’ve participated in many tea cermonies and its truly a beautiful experience.

Tea Table

I utilized [ht:home] little tea house as my building and styled a traditional tea ceremony with Cleo Designs tea table, chairs and tea accessories.  Cleo’s gorgeous luminous screen and floor lantern are flanking the side wall.  Apple Fall’s Chinese Credenza serves as a buffet table for Jian Sushi & Sashimi Time trays.  On the side of the buffet is 22769 ~ [bauwerk] My Zen Corner birdcage, cherry blossom, small buddha head, incense burner and zen stones.

Sushi Buffet

Pull the shoji screens closed and both sides of the doorway have Asian cabinets (22769 ~ [bauwerk] My Zen Corner & Newchurch Kaidan Mission Tansu) and customary artifacts from porcelain temple jars, to bonsai trees, to miniature Japanese zen garden.  You can easily incoporate any of these furnishing into your SL home creating layers and nuance.  Don’t be afraid to experiment with unfamiliar styles, after all virtual interior design is easier on your back!

I also wanted to highlight Prism Moira, a sexy Asian printed outfit available for free on the Summertime Fun Hunt (June 1st – 30th).  Although you couldn’t wear it to a tradtional tea cermony, it will serve as the perfect inspiration for incoporating Asian style in your home.

Seaside Living

Seaside Living

Transitioning seasons can be one of the hardest and most challenging aspects in home design.  A solution is to add the upcoming seasons decorative accessories or color palette. The above seaside cabin living room space is awash in soft blues and greens, a typical spring color palette and the addition of nautical oars, sail boat, seashells and beachy wall art makes this an inviting spring/summer getaway.  Get a jump start on summer by checking out the Perfect Ten event (June 1-15) where you can find Tylar’s Treasures “Sea” oar sign, repurposed barrels side tables, oar table lamps, and compass rug all for 50% off.  I also used Shutter Field Beach Living Set released for the May round of The Challenge theme: Holiday/Beach and accessorize with The Mustard Seed Beachy Signs, Floorplan Oar Frames and Apple Fall Storm Lamp.  Hope you are inspired to change it up and Let’s Get Decorating!

Beach Day

Tylar's Treasure (Nautical)

The phone was ringing off the hook this morning.  I dragged myself out of bed and reluctantly answered.  It was real life calling to inform me to get up, go outside and enjoy the beautiful weather.  “I can’t, I have too much to do,” I said, but real life wasn’t hearing of it.  So I surrendered, packed the Mustang, put the top down and headed over the hill to Half Moon Bay, CA (USA).  Wow, the beach was gorgeous.  The puffy white Cumulus clouds caressed the ocean, the sand rippled under my toes and the squeals of joy from young treasure hunters blanketed the shore.  It was a great day at the beach; I rushed home to recreate the experience in Second Life.

Beach Days Flamingo

Luckily for me the Perfect Ten event opens tomorrow, June 1st -15th and Tylar’s Treasures has the ideal beachcomber collection on sale for 50% off.  All items in the Sea Collection are sold separately and include: Adirondack chairs, pillars with ship wheel coffee table, ‘Sea’ oar wall art, dusty blue compass rug, sea barrel/crate, and pillar with seagull.  I headed over to The Mustard Seed and picked up the bronze flamingo welcome beach sign that’s on sale for $60L until Thursday, June 4, 2015.  Ms. Lavinia Godenot, owner of The Mustard Seed, gave me a sneak peek of her Day at the Beach Hunt prize (June 1 to 31), the magical beach buckets with twigs and seashells (2 versions: with or without twinkle lights).  One can’t go to the beach without a towel, so I hurried over to [free bird] and picked up the Day At The Beach Towel Rack (**free** for all group members, ends TONIGHT).  Finally, I had to reproduce the children’s thrill at finding buried treasures.  Little Llama created the Oh-FISH-ally Summer Set (kids beach chair, treasure cooler and sandcastle kit) for The Challenge May theme: Holiday/Beach.  I loved creating the exterior seaside styling and was inspired to design a coastal chic interior; upcoming post featuring more items from the Perfect Ten event and The Challenge.  Summer is almost here, so grab these beachy deals and Let’s Get Decorating!
