Happy Tuesday! Out here in Silicon Valley, we are having some bad weather with flash flood warning, thunder and lighting, and a snow forecast for the Santa Cruz Mountains. I know I shouldn’t complain, but I’m worried about the creek behind my house overflowing. Anyway, winter is still around and today I wanted to pay tribute to it featuring Tylar’s Treasures Celebrate Winter Decor collection available for sale at Color Me Happy Event until 2/6/17. The collection includes a modern white wood and marble fireplace, white ottoman trunk with beige pillows, and three bare trees with twinkling lights and a “celebrate” mantle sign. Color Me Happy is a small event highlighting new and upcoming designers. This is their first event, so I’m not sure if it will be a recurring shopping experience. I also wanted to highlight the Snowy Landscapes framed artwork above the fireplace from The Artist Shed, a free gift on the Winter Blows Hunt until 1/31/17.Another gift on the Winter Blows Hunt is Wynona by Prism, a white cable-knit turtle-neck sweater dress with black belt. I love the detail knit on the dress with larger cable-knitting down the middle and small knit on the side and neckline. The last item I would like to showcase is Brook Hill Living Faun Chandelier available in Gold and Silver/Black at Shiny Shabby event until 2/15/17. The Faun Chandelier is elegant, opulent and exquisitely detailed with glorious illumination…it’s a statement piece that makes the room. In addition, all Brook Hill Living buildings are 50% off in January, both on the marketplace and in-world store. Stay warm, dry and safe!
Winter has set in at Silverlake village and Glory heads over to her friendly elderly neighbor for game night. As sheets of rain and lighting bolts strike outside the girls are happy to be safe and sound with the warm fire, cozy couch and yummy treats. Park Place Home Decor is participating in the January round of Swank event until 1/31/2017 offering numerous furniture pieces including the gray suede sofa with texture change pillows, comfy large gray suede armchair, ebony rocking chair with color change throw and many floor pillow options. Also available at Swank is the walnut drop-leaf coffee table with twig/glass decor, two gray printed area rugs and wall sconces. A corresponding gray/gold reversible wall art, black lacquer round wire end table, white marble accent lamp and indoor house plant complete the set. Displayed on the fireplace and next to the rocking chair is part of Tylar’s Treasures Celebrate Winter Decor items offered at a new smaller event called Color Me Happy until 2/6/17. Finally, the last offering from Park Place Home Decor at Swank is the walnut wall mirror entry table with accessories that matches the coffee table. So if you’re in need of renewing your space, head over to Swank and Color Me Happy and take advantage of these offerings.
Cheers to 2017! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and a magical New Year’s. Since I’ve just returned to Second Life after a long hiatus, I didn’t have time to decorate for Christmas. I’m just finishing up my landscaping of a winter country village with an overall theme of Winterfest. What is Winterfest you ask, well for me it’s a celebration of all things winter from snowflakes to icy landscapes. Today’s styling features Brook Hill Living Portobello Set available at The Crossroads Event until 1/28/2017. The Crossroads is new to me monthly event highlighting top SL creators from female fashion, skin, accessories and home decor. Brook Hill’s Portobello set includes a high back tufted cream sofa with alternative red stripe linen fabric on the arms and seat. There is also three pillow collections to choose from and a lite “Rockstar” marquee sign in two colors (not shown above). Other items in the styling are What Next Amelie & Winter Picture Shelves and Dust Bunny Winter Treasures Collection. I had hope to publish this blog sooner but time got away from me. Hope you enjoyed my first interior design blog for the New Year. I’m pleased I returned to SL, even if it’s limited because it makes me happy!
Happy December! I know it seems a bit strange to offer joyous holiday spirit 19 days or so into the month, but I was so preoccupied in sharing my older home design with you, I wasn’t sure if I would be able to carve out time to return to Second Life and style for the holidays. Well, I just had too…the design bug bit me and with a few sleepless nights, I created a cute little ski chalet using What Next Alpine Cabin. Surprise, surprise…the cabin and most of the holiday decor from What Next is currently part of the 12 Days of Savings 50% off marketplace special (ends 12/25/16). I think this is the first year What Next and other home designers are participating in the MP blowout. Last year, I cleaned up on Truth Hair and Mandala Jewelry.
I love styling porches…the entryway needs to be inviting and cozy. With multiple lanterns, benches and welcome mat, Santa is sure to stop here first. I even left some hot cocoa and cookies on the ski lift for him!
Inside the one room cottage is a warm retreat with lots of seating, presents and stocking ready to be filled. An overall Nordic Winter theme in red, cream and touches of green is felt throughout the room. Lots of trees in every style are tucked in the corners and a sweet treat coffee bar displaying Brook Hill Living Finse Deer Tableware complete the Merry & Bright lodge!

The final home in the series is the Scarlet Creative Hudson Townhouse which I used as my main living quarters since 2015. I often had several projects I was working on simultaneously on platforms or extra parcels, so it was nice to have a place called home. The townhouse was placed on a hilltop overlooking the art studio and other structures below. Behind the house on a hill the parcel dipped down revealing an inner lake in the region where I situated the boy’s waterfront cabin. I love the exposed brick, beautiful natural wood and large floor to ceiling windows in the townhouse. The textures designer/owner Charlotte Barlett create are so authentic and offer an open canvas to design. The bottom floor first room is a lounge area with a living room submerged in rich leathers, warm brown tones and highlighted with copper metal accents. The uncluttered space is a mix of traditional and modern with an emphasis on clean lines. The second room on the bottom floor I used for the kitchen and dining room, previously blogged here. Up the ladder leads to an open loft space, perfect to fit two twin beds against the huge windows and on the other side an additional bed for guest. I love designing bedrooms, so the loft area with a balcony that overlooks the kitchen needed to be a fun whimsical spot ideal for sleepover parties with girlfriends.
Finally, the last stop on the house tour guides us to the master bedroom suite. Walk through the antique lace curtains and you are greeted to an enormous space ample to fit two queen size beds. A communal fireplace joins the sleepy heads with an extra lounge area tucked in the corner complete with sweet treats.
Hope you enjoyed the house tours! Generally, I never have time to take a photo of my personal homes I lived in, so it’s nice to reflect back and remember how much I love SL interior design. I have a confession to make, late last night (when I was supposed to be sleeping) I logged back into Second Life. My former landlord auto-return my stuff and sold his land. There I was at 2am, madly searching for another parcel….oh gosh the craziness has started again. Found one and yes I’m in the middle of building a winter village, hope to share it with you soon. As always, any comments or questions are welcomed. Till we meet again, happy decorating!
