Today, March 8, 2013 is International Women’s Day. In 1957, 15,000 NYC garment workers staged a protest against inhumane working conditions and low wages. The march led to creation of the first women’s labor union. The slogan “Bread and Roses” emerged with bread symbolizing economic security and roses for better living standards. Bread and Roses is still an active group today helping with women’s rights.
I found some specials to honor this event. Poulet, of Purple Moon, offered a free Diamond Jewelry set for group members. Gizza is having a 30-50% off weekend sale. Augusta Fride of Augusta Creations made a special gown, Donna as a free gift for all women. Thank you ladies!
